Research Assistant

Huamin Research Center

  • Lead and manage quantitative research projects using primary and secondary data analyses

  • Content areas: children, adolescent, and emerging adult well-being; intimate partner violence; job demands and resources and health and work outcomes

  • Disseminate findings to professional and lay audiences at national and international conferences and symposia, focusing on application and implications for policy and practice

Research Assistant

International Partnership for Queer Youth Resilience

  • Drive and manage 12-month national qualitative study on migrant LGBTQ+ young adults’ information and communication technology (ICT) use throughout childhood, adolescence, and emerging adulthood by (1) strategizing study recruitment and (2) conducting over 20 interviews via web conferencing

  • Identified and presented applications of above research to stakeholders at national and international conferences and symposia

  • Consult on and develop clinical practices and prevention programming to ensure that services are evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed for young LGBTQ+ people, including migrants

  • Design and execute international mixed methods research study to generate insights on LGBTQ+ youth’s experiences playing online video games by (1) employing survey research design and (2) interviewing adolescents and young adults

  • Co-facilitated staff-wide conversations on DEI topics and their impact on staff-client relations and substance use disorder treatment

Social Work Intern

GLSEN Central New Jersey

  • Coordinated statewide conference with 500+ attendees (incl. policymakers, educators, middle school and high students, and parents)

  • Developed and presented panels and workshops on intersectionality, mental health and wellness, and healthy interpersonal relationships for youth ages 10 to 17

  • Conducted educational policy research to assess gaps in legal protections for LGBTQ+ K-12 students in NJ public schools (e.g., using restroom aligned with one’s gender, choice in formal attire at school dances, attending school dances with same-gender date, using chosen name, etc.)

  • Applied research findings to engage in state-level, evidence-based advocacy, lobbying for policy (A1335/S1569, signed by Governor in January 2019) to introduce LGBTQ+ and disability inclusive curriculum to NJ public schools
